The following are comments by DWD Secretary Linda Stewart in response to todays announcement by Milwaukee County officials of actions they are taking to improve the processing of child care subsidy requests:
"I would like to commend the cooperative efforts Milwaukee Countys Department of Human Services, the Private Industry Council and the W-2 agencies in Milwaukee County have undertaken to improve the processing of child care subsidy requests.
"Their team approach to problem solving is making a difference.
"I also am pleased with our local partners efforts to streamline processing of child care applications. They are making more resources available to meet the needs of working parents, and will be working closely with child care providers to resolve any problems.
"Wisconsin continues to be committed to helping working parents meet their child care needs.
"Together, we have tackled these problems with the can-do approach for which Wisconsin is widely known."
