Electrician - Construction Apprenticeship

Electricians plan the electrical systems for structures. They install wiring and other electrical components, such as breaker boxes, switches, light fixtures, and telephone and television wiring. They must be familiar with local and national codes. Electricians must be carefully trained and safe because they can be exposed to hazardous conditions and situations. In Wisconsin, completed apprentices receive a Journeyman Certification. Talk to employers whose businesses involve your chosen trade and find out if the employer trains apprentices. Those interested in the construction trades should apply to the local Joint Apprenticeship Committee (JAC), a volunteer committee in the construction industry that shares information about the specific trade. For apprenticeship in manufacturing and service industries, contact the employer directly to find out their procedure for choosing apprenticeship candidates.

Most employers are required to report certain employment information to the State of Wisconsin, including quarterly wage information for their employees. MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
