Funeral Service
Blackhawk Technical College
Designed as a shared program with the Milwaukee Area Technical College, the Funeral Service program prepares individuals for a career as a licensed funeral director and embalmer. Students who complete the program will earn an associate degree and be eligible to receive their license (pending successful completion of the National Board Exam and State Board Exam).
Funeral service education is comprised of two categories: arts and sciences. The arts category covers the following topics: psychology, marketing and merchandising, funeral management, funeral arrangements, funeral service practices and law, grief, ethics, business management, and more. The science category covers the following topics: embalming, restorative art, funeral chemistry, pathology, microbiology, and more.

Blackhawk Career Services helps students explore careers, prepare for the job application process and find current opportunities. Blackhawk offers resume writing, mock interviews, job search techniques, and internships, when available.
Blackhawk Technical College provides free tutoring services to credit students enrolled at the college. We offer online, open lab and peer tutoring. Also, counseling services are available.
Refunds are processed according to the Wisconsin Technical College System Refund Policy for program, material and activity fees. To receive refunds, you must formally request refunds from Registration and Records by notifying them of your intent to drop a class(es) or completely withdraw from all classes. Requests for refunds must be received during the same term of enrollment. Refund requests are time-sensitive as each day that passes may affect the amount of refund you are eligible.
