MATC Community Health Worker Training - Paid Related Instruction (PRI) for WI Registered Apprenticeship

Community Health Workers (CHWs) are frontline public health workers and trusted members of the community who connect people to medical providers & community resources. MATC's Paid-Related Instruction (PRI) for CHW apprentices is a 4-course subset of MATC's Community Health & Nutrition Navigator program. These 4 courses emphasize the impact the social determinants of health have on health and the systemic and structural challenges facing communities. Additionally, apprentices will learn the following skills: Communication, Interpersonal/Relationship-Building, Service Coordination and Navigation, Capacity Building, Advocacy, Education and Facilitation, Individual and Community Assessment, Outreach, and Grant-writing. Notes: 1. This program accepts learners from throughout Wisconsin; students outside Milwaukee may attend classes virtually. 2. The training program is designed to be responsive to community needs. Courses feature frequent guest speakers from community-serving agencies throughout Milwaukee/Wisconsin. The program's Community Advisory Board is composed of leaders from throughout the community who guide the program, ensure it is responsive to community needs, and serve as champions of the program and its students.

Tutoring is available from 8AM to 8PM, Monday thru Friday.
